Need To Include Deaf blind In All Aspects Of Life |
|
Chairperson of Deafblind UK, Dr Philip Gafga, a deafblind himself, has urged the need for society to include the deafblind in all aspects of everyday life. According to the charity, despite the diversity in society, there is a marked lack of awareness of the existence of deafblind. It asked the people to think what life of these deafblind people are. Deafblind UK offers comprehensive services, including training in communication and rehabilitation skills, to deafblind people. It helps the deafblind by one-to-one human support, as they rely on human contact for the vital information about the outside world. The Deafblind Awareness Week 2006 by Deafblind UK urged the society to empathize with the 2.6-million deafblind people in the UK, most of them 60 years or older. The National Health Service (NHS) professionals are being offered free Deafblind Awareness training courses for insight into this world of dual sensory impaired people. |
